Karting - Team Brask Trophy

News from Lennart Sorth, webmaster of Viadukten Club in Denmark...

The annual "Team Brask Trophy of Talent" is awarded to successful drivers at the championship races in the youth-club "Viadukten" in Roskilde, Denmark. Unfortunately planning problems for club's local track, meant that the planned race in December had to be cancelled, and the race rescheduled - hence the 2003 championship being contested on Saturday 18 January 2003, on a nearby club-track in Albertslund.

The track was wet, from a night of rain, but the clouds disappeared as the competitors arrived. Most drivers started on rain-tyres, but as they discovered just how quickly they can evaporate on even semi-dry track, most of them had their slicks on for the last heat. This year three drivers were selected to recieve the honour of getting their name on the impressive Team Brask Trophy"

The three drivers are (from left to right): Kristian Batenburg, Mia Andreasen and Kenneth Jönsson:

Despite being relegated to the back of the field due to technical problems, Kristian responded by showing some inspired driving, fighting his way back up through the field - with some fine overtaking. It wasn't enough to put him on the podium, but certainly enough to make him stand out. Mia, the first girl to recieve this honour, has on several occasions shown great talent and today she left the entire field of boys behind and raced away into the horizon. It was a pleasure to see her negotiate turns with this apparent ease, keeping the speed up. Well done! Last, but not least, Kenneth who started driving karts just a few months ago, but this hasn't kept him from showing some good talent on the track. Looked after properly his talent could bring him many victories in the future. Incidently, the kart they are posing on, belongs to Morten, who got his name on the trophy last year.

We would like to thank Team Brask for this trophy, which is such a great motivator for the kids to show their talent - and it is not only on the track this can be felt.
