Formula 3000
Brask Management's young Danish driver Allan Simonsen had a brief
run in Coloni Motorsport's International F3000 car last week. Simonsen
drove this year for the Veloqx Motorsport Ferrari team in the British
GT championship in an F360 with some impressive showings.
Because of there relationship with Coloni Motorsport Paolo Coloni
offered to give Allan a brief run and, despite poor conditions,
he established that he would be very competitive in this Championship.
Allan said: "It was a great experience and after just a few laps
which Coloni kindly gave me, I know that I could be a front runner
in this Championship". "We are all working hard to find the budget
for me to be able to compete in next years Championship".
Formula Renault
Mike Spencer finished tenth in this weeks Formula Renault Winter
series race at Brands. Lars-Christian Brask and Alf Boarer watched
him on Saturday and commented that they witnessed "fantastic
execution of race craft" that very much reminded them of Giorgio
Pantano in his first outing in Formula 3 back in 2000.
Comparisons between Spencer and Pantano may well continue. Spencer
convincingly won this year's Zip Formula Championship in what was
his first season of car racing after moving up from Karts. His prize
for winning is a season with a front running team in Renault for
2003.
