British Formula Three Championship - Brands Hatch
Jesper Carlsen competes in the latest round of the British Formula
Three Championship at Brands Hatch. Jesper was quick there in the
opening round of the season and has made further progress in the
last few rounds despite running with the unfashionable (in current
F3 terms) Toyota engine.
In first qualifying for this weekend's races Jesper was fourth,
just two tenths of a second down on Mugen-Honda powered pole man
Clivio Piccione. In the second session Jesper got the better of
Indian racer Karun Chandok and reigning British Formula Ford Champion,
Swede Robert Dahlgren. Jesper lined up third, again behind Piccione
and Championship leader Adam Carroll, again both Honda powered.
Jesper also beat many of the Championship class runners who use
this year's chassis as opposed to a year old version. Notably Jesper
lines up in front of Matt Gilmore, Finnish star Heikki Kovalainen,
fellow Dane Ronnie Bremer and Championship class race winner from
earlier this season, Mark Taylor.
In the races Jesper did not fare so well. Seventh in race one was
followed by retirement in the second. Further details to follow.
