Zip Formula Championship - Round 2

Mike Spencer was again bang on the pace in the second round of the Zip Formula Championship at Mallory Park. Just a week after bagging the opening race of the season along with a new lap record Mike was back in action for his first ever race at the pituresque Leicestershire circuit.

The morning's qualifying session saw Mike second fastest - Jamie Morrow pipping him to pole position. In the race Morrow converted pole into an early lead but Mike was soon in his rivals mirrors and took the lead as the pair went through the Lake Esses. Morrow proved to be a tough adversary and sneaked back into the lead on the run down to the finish line from the hairpin. The equal specification cars gave both the drivers and large crowd a grandstand finish. Mike again recorded the fastest lap and therefore now holds two lap records for the class.
