German Formula Three - Hockenheim
Allan Simonsen contested the last double header of the German Formula
Three season and posted his best results of the season in very difficult
conditions. Allan qualified 20th for Saturday's race and 23rd for
Sunday's season finale. Saturday's race saw him put in a superb
performance as he carved his way through the field into 13th place.
Sunday's event was run in very wet conditions and although the rain
stopped there was little evidence of the circuit drying. Allan again
put in a fantastic drive to climb up into 12th place at the chequered
flag. The Championship was secured by Frank Diefenbacher although
there was some doubt thrown on this due to a yellow flag infringment
by the German driver during the race.
Danish Touring Car Challenge - Jyllands Ringen
Kent Bo Lauridsen took third place in the sprint race of the last
round of the season at Jyllands Ring. Casper Elgaard was eighth
with Carsten Leveau in 12th. In the feature race Casper Elgaard
took seventh place with Kent Bo Lauridsen in 13th but the other
Team Brask drivers were out of luck as Mike Legarth took the win.
Michael Carlsen won the championship with Casper Elgaard fourth
with Kent Bo Lauridsen sixth, Gunnar Kristensen eigth and Carsten
Leveau 14th.
Belcar Championship - Zolder
Jacky van der Ende failed to reach the finish during the Belcar
race at Zolder. His retirement came 37 laps into the race when his
engine expired. At the time Jacky was in ninth place overall and
leading his class. Qualifying for the two hour race saw Jacky and
his driving partner for the weekend, Rembert Berg, qualify 21st
overall and second in class. Jacky took the opening stint and was
very quick at the start, making up several places in the overall
standings in the Audi A4. The retirement brought a premature end
to his race and also his 2001 racing season.
