Giorgio Qualified in 11th place and finally broke the 2001 season points duck for Team Astromega with a great fifth place finish.

Giorgio blasted past Pizzonia at the start and moved into eighth on the third lap following the retirement of Marc Goosens. He then passed Darren Manning on lap 17 and Thomas Enge - experiencing mechanical problems on lap 30 to move into the points positions. Finally Mark Webber spun out in the final stages.
