Formula Renault Championship - Silverstone
Allan Simonsen was unable to put his dismal start to the season
behind him in round four of the championship on the International
Circuit at Silverstone. Allan qualified in 17th place due to the
chassis not being set up properly. With the correct cornerweighting
set up for the race things looked more positive and Allan made a
great start and good progress in the early laps. This was until
a passing move during which a rival clipped his front wheel causing
a spin down to last place. Despite this and a still underpowered
engine, Allan put in a determined drive and recovered to 17th place
at the flag. Allan's progress is underlined by the fact that he
was the 9th fastest driver in the race.
Top six: 1st Danny Watts, 2nd Carl Breeze, 3rd Richard Antinucci,
4th Mark McLoughlin, 5th Leighton Walker, 6th Matthew Griffin.
